without web 2.0 the major part of the films promotion wouldn't have been possible, web 2.0 has enabled interactive and creativity on the web (things can be created on the website), also the films promotion woudn have bee as big as it was without online advertising.

Most viewed videos on youtube are mainly music videos from mainstream artists, this shows that there is a high demand for this type of generic music. -Proving the long tail theory that mainstream music receives more buyers/viewers etc than niche music. 






  • Bottleneck in distribution distorts the market
  • wallmart- 25,000 tracks
  • rhapsody- 1.5 million (online)
  • itunes- 2 million (online)
  • only 40%  of music produced is available in offline music stores
  • mainstream music declines faster in comparison to  niche because they have further to fall
  • arctic monkeys declines fast in comparison to ghospel album
  • most popular artists are often older e.g. U2, stones, elton john- classics?
